Focus and Scope

Overview
Journal of Tropical Crop Science is  published four-monthly (February, June, October) by Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University, Indonesia.

Aims and Scope

Journal of Tropical Crop Science publishes articles reporting research findings in in-vivo and in-vitro crop production and management in the tropical conditions. The topics include studies on crop breeding, seed technology, physiology, postharvest, pest, and pathology of tropical cereals, vegetables, fruits, ornamentals, medicinal and plantation crops; soil, landscape, turf and agroecology management.

Journal of Tropical Crop Science History

In line with the commitment of IPB University to advance learning, knowledge and publication of research in tropical agriculture worldwide, Journal of Tropical Crop Science was established in November 2013. The founder of journal was 2012-2015 Chair of Department Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr Agus Purwito. The development of the journal was supported by the late Dr Dahrul Syah, Prof M. Syukur, and other senior academics of the School of Agronomy and Horticulture, 2012-2015 Faculty of Agriculture Dean, Dr Ernan Rustiadi, and IPB University. The main goals are to publish and to disseminate experimental works and original research on tropical crops and of contemporary issues arising in tropical environment.

Journal of Tropical Crop Science is published as open access. Articles will be immediately free for everyone to read and download.

Publication fees

Article processing charge applies starting November 20, 2024, for publication in 2025.

The Journal of Tropical Crop Science has ARTICLE PUBLICATION CHARGE fees only for the accepted articles.

Payment of this fee is intended to subsidize the operational costs of the journal and is mandatory for all submissions.

The article processing charge of USD 150 (one hundred fifty US Dollars) applies to a maximum of 15 published pages per article.

WAIVERS AND DISCOUNTS FROM ARTICLE PUBLICATION CHARGE

Keeping our commitment to open access, the Journal of Tropical Crop Science offers discounts from the APC for foreign authors in low-income countries.

Authors who cannot pay the publication fee are requested to email the journal at jtcs@apps.ipb.ac.id stating the reasons for requesting a waiver.

The journal will not use the publication fee to prevent the publication of accepted articles, as it has no commercial purposes.

A maximum of two waivers or discounts will be granted per published issue, regardless of the order of authorship and research group.

Journal of Tropical Crop Science (JTCS) is technically and financially supported by Department of Agronomy and Horticulture as a non-profit national university. JTCS is committed not to accept any advertising/other commercial revenues nor to conduct any direct marketing activities to ensure that the editorial decisions are on the grounds of suitability for the journal scope, impact and overall quality of manuscript. Publisher does not have any influence in the editorial decision making.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
